Adjutant Black was the second in command for the Red Ribbon Army, beside Commander Red. He was under the impression that the army wanted to gather the dragon balls for world conquest, and worked with this goal in mind. When Commander Red gathered the dragon balls he began to muse about how he wanted to use the wish to become taller. Adjutant Black felt betrayed, and shot Commander Red in the head. Having killed him, he appointed himself the new leader of the army.
Adjutant Black's leadership was short lived after he battled against Son Goku in his Battle Jacket, who killed him.
